Summer Movies

Join us this August for a Movie and a Sermon!

Starting August 9 through the end of the month: Every Thursday we will be watching movies that connect with the following Sunday’s sermon. We will start the movie at 11:00 am in the fellowship hall and then we will have conversations after the movie. Popcorn will be provided.

August 9 (Sermon 8/12):
All Saints
When a group of Burmese refugees join the congregation, the pastor of a failing Anglican church attempts to aid them by planting crops and enlisting the help of the community.
August 16 (Sermon 8/19):
The Namesake
American-born Gogol, the son of Indian immigrants, wants to fit in among his fellow New Yorkers, despite his family’s unwillingness to let go of their traditional ways.
August 23 (Sermon 8/26):
The Great Debaters
A drama based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson, a professor at Wiley College Texas. In 1935, he inspired students to form the school’s first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national championship.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:28

Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.

Isaiah 1:17

For God does not show favoritism.

Romans 2:11

Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.
